Rhodes Music Radio (RMR) is the official student radio station of Rhodes University. It broadcasts across Grahamstown within a 50 km radius of the city.
Rhodes Music Radio (RMR) is a non-profit Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) licenced Community Radio Station which began broadcasting in 1981, making it the oldest campus-based radio station in the South Africa. The station has historically provided educational, news, music, cultural and general public interest content to the rural town of Makhanda (Grahamstown) and close surrounds.
RMR provides public access to information and facilitates social inclusion through transmission as well as opportunities for people outside of the internal Rhodes University community to participate in station activities. Many prominent personalities in South African radio started their careers at RMR.
