Voice of Wits, recently rebranded as VOW 88.1, is the official student radio station for the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. The station made its debut broadcasting in English in the 1990s, with the support of The Wits School of Journalism.
The target demographic is young people, the majority of whom are university students based in Braamfontein and surrounding areas. A variety of music and talk shows reflect the life of the youth, students, politics and tackle social issues.
VOW 88.1 offers recorded radio adverts, scripted live reads, interviews, on-air competitions, social media posts and on-campus activations.
